the “fondly watching your s.o. sleep” trope is so lovely. you have one person asleep - totally vulnerable, unable to defend themselves - but the vulnerable focus is actually on the person who is awake! the person who is awake is more vulnerable in how much they love the person who is sleeping, and how much they mean to them, and how comfortable and safe they - the awake person! - feel with this person, and how open their emotions are in simply looking at the person they love. what a good trope. what a good trope.
